Project Echo

The Why PDI & teleECHO Collaboration.

West Africa as a region is well known as a main source of physicians emigrating to HICs. The result of this higher-than-usual level of “Brain Drain” on the sub-region’s critical healthcare work-force is that more and more people in the sub-region are dying of diseases that are preventable, treatable and even curable. Why, because increasingly the sub-region is left with more of inexperienced health care workforce in communities; lacking the knowledge and expertise needed to address these conditions.

Something has to be done. For now, we may not be in position to influence and stop these professionals from leaving. But we can do something about bringing back the same “knowledge and expertise” these professionals are taking away with them. This time by moving “knowledge”, not people. That’s why we (PDI) have gone into collaborative partnership with Project ECHO® also known as teleECHO. PDI & teleECHO collaboration is an initiative that moves necessary multidisciplinary specialist knowledge and expertise (from around the world), to our less-experienced end-point community doctors, nurses and community healthcare workers, across West Africa.
